Tour Diaries - See The Future 2024: The Big Drive

Writer's picture: carzynickcarzynick

I had quite the adventure last weekend. I saw more of the country than I ever have, it was a fun and grueling drive as I played and visited these locations for the first time! I was in 13 states over 6 days and tried to soak up as much as possible.

Here is my adventure in order:

1) Maryland - Of course

2) Virginia - Had to stop in Charlottsville for a Pickup but mostly driving through.

3) Tennessee - I left earlier than planned Wednesday which gave me time to stop in Nashville on Wednesday night. I got to go to Broadway and see and the music venues and bands playing. It was incredible. Thursday morning, I headed to Memphis where I hung out most of the day. I went to Graceland and grabbed some BBQ with an old friend. Thursday night I played on the legendary Beale St. at Kings Palace Cafe

4) Arkansas - I spent the night in Arkansas then drove through Little Rock on my way to Shreveport. I'd like to note the existence of the cities known as Arkadelphia and Texarkana which makes me think Arkansas wishes it was any other state lol.

5) Louisiana - Friday, I hung out in Shreveport for a few hours, I played on the lovely patio at Ki' Mexico. After my gig I drove through the night so I could get closer to New Orleans where I had breakfast in the French Quarter and drove around a bit to take in some of the sites.

6) Mississippi - Mostly drove through this state.

7) Florida - Also passing through

8) Alabama - Saturday, I played in Dothan at a local watering hole called The Thirsty Pig. I met some cool people and another fellow musician who I hung with for a bit after the show. I got a Hotel that night and prepared for a long ass drive home.

9) Georgia - Drove through, but I gotta say, Atlanta traffic is insane, never seen anything like it.

10) South Carolina - Passing through

11) North Carolina - Passing through, as well as Virginia so I could sleep in my own bed Sunday night.

12) Delaware - passing though

13) New Jersey - Monday morning I had to make a work trip to Jersey, which felt like a cake walk after my previous day of driving.

I also came dangerously close to the following states but decided not to add to my 50+ hours of travel time: Kentucky, Texas, Pennsylvania, New York.

This was a tough trip to do alone, but it also nice just having time to listen to music, think about life, and get a new perspective of the world.

Maps would only let me add so many stops so this doesn't include my drive home from New Jersey or the hours I spent in traffic.
